General Notes: Husband - John Gilpin


He inherited Gilpin Manor and spent his whole life there, taking an active interest in public affairs, and filling a number of public offices in his native county. He succeeded his father as presiding judge of the Cecil county courts, February 14, 1788, was a presidential elector for John Adams in 1797, and for Thomas Jefferson in 1801 and 1805. He was also a member of the House of Delegates in 1800.
