William A. DeLong
William Allen DeLong, 66, of Emlenton died Friday evening in Butler County Memorial Hospital.
Born June 12, 1915, in Rockland Township, he was the son of Guy E. and Mildred Pryer DeLong.
He was married in 1938 to the former Josephine Altmire who survives.
Mr. DeLong attended Coal City schools in Rockland Township and was graduated from Emlenton High School.
He was a member of St. Michael Church in Emlenton and the Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. DeLong was an avid hunter.
Employed for several years at Bowie Bakery, he later worked for Sterling Oil in Emlenton until 1945. He then became self-employed in the trucking business. In the early 1950's he worked as a heavy construction equipment mechanic for Operator Engineers Local 66 in Pittsburgh, retiring in 1975 due to a disability.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Guy E. DeLong of Rochester, N.Y., and William DeLong Jr. of Penfield, N.Y.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Dixie) Anchors of Chesapeake, Va., and Mrs. Robert (Julia) Rumbaugh of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie DeLong Altmire, of Eau Claire, Mrs. Charles (Doris) Hetzler of Emlenton RD 1 and Mildred Wise of Cuba, N.Y.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were three brothers, Wallace DeLong, Norman DeLong and an infant; and a sister, Harriet DeLong Nelson.
Friends will be received today in the Robert F. Criswell Funeral Home in Emlenton.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday in St. Michael Church in Emlenton with Rev. William Maloney, pastor of St. Michael Church, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
Recitation of the Rosary will be conducted at 7:30 pm today in the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Michael Church or the American Heart Association fund.
