He was educated at Allegheny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania, and combined carpenter work with farming. He and his wife resided on the homestead of Robert Harbison in Big Beaver township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. They had a fine farm of 200 acres, with first-class buildings. They were members of the United Presbyterian church. Mr. Pyle voted with the Democratic party.

Later resided in Colorado.
