General Notes: Husband - Harry B. Zeigler

Following an education in the public schools of his native county, went into the employ of the Sterling Boiler Works, in Barberton, Ohio, where he remained two years. He then removed to New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and went to work for the company then known as the Shenango Steel Company, later a part of the Carnegie Steel Corporation. He remained with this firm nearly fourteen years, and when he left the employ of the Shenango works he was a stationary engineer. He then affiliated himself with the Frew furniture house in New Castle, and worked there about three years. Subsequently he was in the employ of Mr. L. S. Swan, also a furniture dealer in the county capital, for three years, and at the end of that period he and Mr. Swan, forming a partnership, established the furniture enterprise that Mr. Zeigler later came to own. But before Mr. Zeigler came into sole ownership of the business, he had two partners-Mr. Swan and his own brother. The first partnership, known as Swan and Zeigler, operated a store at Nos. 628-630 Lawrence Avenue, in Ellwood City. After the partnership was three years old, Mr. Zeigler bought out the interest of Mr. Swan and took his own brother into the business. They operated under the name of Zeigler Brothers, and the firm name was such until July, 1924, although Mr. Zeigler's brother died in March, 1922, and Mr. Zeigler had bought the estate of his brother shortly after his death. He then conducted the business in his own building at Nos. 316-318 Sixth Street, under his own name. He had twelve thousand square feet of floor space, employed four persons, operated two trucks and shipped goods within a radius of twenty-five miles of Ellwood City.
Mr. Zeigler was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Ellwood City, and the Ellwood City Rotary Club. He was treasurer of his church, Trinity Lutheran, of Ellwood City.
