General Notes: Husband - Ernest L. Godfrey

At the age of one year he moved with his mother to Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, where he lived with her until her death in 1862. He then worked as a miner for twenty-two years, with the exception of a brief period in 1864-65 when he carried bread from Charlestown to Camp Piatt in West Virginia, for the Union soldiers. He then came to Venango County in 1874, and resided there, a portion of the time as a farmer, and then as a grocer in Emlenton. Mr. Godfrey and wife were members of the Reformed church and politically he was a Republican. [HVC 1890, 944]
