General Notes: Husband - Joseph Goon

He was reared on the old family homestead near Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, where he early became familiar with the work of the farm, but at an early age he also learned the shoemaker's trade, at which he worked for many years. After his marriage he located in Clearfield, but later purchased a farm which he conducted for some time, and then returned to shoemaking. Subsequently he engaged in the sewing machine business in Clearfield, selling machines extensively throughout the country. He was a prominent member of the Democratic party, took an active interest in all public affairs, and at one time was the candidate of his party for sheriff, but was defeated. With the Methodist Episcopal Church both he and his wife were connected, and he was an active member of the Sons of Temperance.
