General Notes: Husband - Edward Budd Gordon

He attended Slippery Rock Normal School and Lock Haven Normal School, majoring in music. He spent his entire working life in the oil business, most of the time as an independent oil producer. During World War I he was Field Superintendent for a large oil company; he was based in Kentucky, first in Barbourville and then in Winchester. He also did some drilling in West Virginia and Ohio. During the mid-twenties he owned a small refinery near Kennerdell. At the time of his death, he and his son Leon were drilling near Pleasantville, PA.

When he was a student at Lock Haven, he bought a violin at a pawn shop there. It had a beautiful tone and was marked as made by Stradivarius, though its authenticity was never ascertained. That area was not too far from the spot where a home was constructed for Marie Antoinette of France, who was imprisoned before she could flee. Many a musical evening was spent at Budd's house, with Virginia playing the piano while Budd and Leon played violins and Ralph DeWoody played the guitar. If Walter Gordon were there, he was sure to join in with his beautiful tenor voice.

General Notes: Wife - Nettie Kelly

She had three children from previous marriage when she wed Gordon.
