General Notes: Husband - Samuel Gordon

He served in the Civil War, enlisting in Company C, 19th Regiment, PVI, on Feb. 23, 1864, serving until peace was declared. Among the many engagements in which his regiment took part were the battles of the Wilderness, Hatcher's Run and Malvern Hill. For gallantry displayed on the field Mr. Gordon was advanced from the ranks to a corporal. Returning home, he engaged in the oil business, looking after the oil interests of McCalmont and McCutcheon in the Cranberry field.
