He and his wife were natives of Virginia, coming to Pennsylvania and locating at Washington about 1815; they were the parents of nine children.

He emigrated from the "Old Country" to America, making a settlement in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he followed the trade of saddler, and passed the rest of his life. [CBRWC, 276]
