He was graduated from Gettysburg College with the degrees of Bachelor of Science and that of Master of Science. He then studied medicine in the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania, whence he was graduated Doctor of Medicine. He was a 32d degree Mason and a member of the Lutheran Church.
