He was a native of Ireland, and settled in what is now Findley Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, some time prior to 1800. [HMC 1888, 1031]

He bought a farm where his grandson, James Graham, later resided from John Hinelight, who got it for services in the Revolutionary War. He came to Mercer County, Pennsylvania, about 1839.
