He was reared on the farm where he was born, and attended the public schools during winters until twenty years of age. In 1873 he commenced the study of medicine under the preceptorship of Dr. J. H. Ramsey; in 1878 he entered Cleveland Medical College, and graduated at the University of Louisville, Kentucky. After three years' practice in Washington County, Pennsylvania, he came to New Brighton, Beaver County, where he then engaged in his profession.
Doctor White was school director two years and re-elected; he was an adherent of the United Presbyterian church; in politics he was a Republican.
