Penn Twp, Butler Co, PA

Upon reaching his majority he purchased the Hill farm in the northeast corner of Penn township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, containing 160 acres. The family was connected with the United Presbyterian church, and in politics, initially he was a Republican, but later was a Prohibitionist.

He was a practical and successful farmer. He lived on his farm until 1896, when he moved to Butler, where he spent the remaining years of his life.
He served several years as director on the Penn Township School Board.
He and his wife and family were members of the Shiloh United Presbyterian Church.
