He and his wife came to Summerhill township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, from Perry County, in 1828.

He came to Crawford County, Pennsylvania, in the fall of 1826. He was a soldier in the War of 1812; represented his county in the Legislature one term, and was a very prominent man.
