General Notes: Husband - Jacob Gray


He served an apprenticeship and learned the trade of a shoemaker, which he followed for several years. He removed to Jamestown, New York, where he was engaged in the hotel business for a few years; next he conducted a hotel in Ripley, New York, remaining there but a short time. He then removed to Sinclairville, New York, where he also managed a hotel for several years. Subsequently he removed to Warren, Pennsylvania, and opened a shoe store which he successfully carried on for a considerable period. He served as constable for several years. From Warren he removed to Glade Run, where he opened the Glade Run Hotel, which he conducted for a year. He returned at the end of that time to Warren, where he took charge of the Ludlow House, continuing there about five years. Mr. Gray then took the Russell House, which he conducted about one year. Subsequently he was proprietor of a hotel at Antwerp, Pennsylvania, of the Tanner House in Warren, and the Wade House in Youngsville. At Youngsville he built a handsome residence. After operating the Wade House for two years, Mr. Gray returned to Warren. He resided with his daughter, Mrs. G. W. Kinnear, until his death. In politics Jacob Gray was a Democrat. Religiously he was a Methodist.
