General Notes: Husband - John Mattern

He was born on the old farm of his father in Franklin township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. In 1828 he located in Centre County.

He purchased from his father-in-law a tract of 300 acres of land lying one mile south of the later location of the village of Matternville, Centre County, Pennsylvania, where he made his home for nearly fifty years,
