General Notes: Husband - James W. Shaw


Farming and the carpenter trade occupied his time till August, 1862, when he enlisted in Co. I, 142d Reg’t. He lost an arm at the battle of Gettysburg, and was discharged subsequently for disability. In 1866, he was elected register, recorder and clerk of the Orphan’s courts of Venango County, and served three terms. He was admitted to the bar in 1873.

He was a soldier in the Civil war, enlisting in 1863. He lost his right arm at the battle of Gettysburg, July 3, 1863; became a prominent attorney and City Judge, of Bradford, Pennsylvania.
