General Notes: Husband - Hugh Gill

After the family settled on Wolf Creek in Mercer County, PA, he purchased a tract of 200 acres which is now in Mercer Township, Butler County. He was the father of six children, of whom five were still living in 1883; four were still living in 1888.

He voted the Democratic ticket in his early days, and afterward joined the Republican party. He paid for his farm by teaming. He hauled the timber for the first bridge across the Allegheny River at Pittsburgh, and for the first steamboat run down the Ohio River.

About 1810, Hugh and Samuel Gill settled a 400-acre tract of land, lying partly in Butler County, PA, and partly in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County. The house on the Gill farm stood in Butler County, and some of the buildings in Mercer County.
