After completing his early schooling at Butler, Pennsylvania, he attended Amherst College, from which he graduated in 1921. He then entered the Law School of the University of Pennsylvania and on June 19, 1923, was admitted to the bar of Butler County. He then engaged in private practice in that city and had offices in the Butler County National Bank Building. Mr. Greer was a Republican, a member of the Methodist church, and belonged to the American Legion and Delta Upsilon and Phi Delta Phi fraternities.
He was a veteran of World War I.
