General Notes: Husband - Edward H. Griffith

He was in the harness business in Marion, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, beginning in 1858, and four years later added the livery trade.

He was educated in the public schools, and for one term taught there. He abandoned teaching to learn the trade of saddlery and harness making with Zook & Slater in Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He removed to Marion Center, Indiana County, in 1858, and there opened a harness shop and livery stable, which he conducted successfully. In earlier days he was a Star Route mail contractor.
