General Notes: Husband - James Adam Guffey

He was reared on the old family homestead, removing from thence at the age of thirteen years to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, with his parents, and residing there up to 1902. This farm came into his possession at the death of his father, being mentioned in the will of the latter. In the latter year he purchased the old Guffey homestead in Sewickley township, Westmoreland County, to which he then removed. In early life, after completing his education in the common schools, he served in the capacity of teacher for one term in the old Victor school house in Allegheny County. During his residence in that county he served five years as justice of the peace in Elizabeth township. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and a Democrat in politics.
