General Notes: Husband - James McKelvy

He and with his wife emigrated to America in 1802, settling in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. At first they rented a farm, later owned and occupied by John S. McKelvy, their grandson. They remained on this farm but a short time and then they purchased a place adjoining, consisting of one hundred and sixty acres, which at that date was mostly wooded heavily. By dint of industry common to the Pennsylvania pioneer he succeeded in clearing up a good farm from out the dense forest, and there spent the remainder of his days, dying aged about sixty-six years.
He and his wife were members of the Protestant church.
