General Notes: Husband - Daniel Showers


He was obliged to begin work at a very early age. He learned the carpenter's trade and followed cabinet making, and for some time he was engaged in farming in Washington township, Snyder County, where he also conducted the "Summit hotel." After removing to Centerville, in 1848, he bought the "Centerville Hotel," which he managed. He was a short, heavy-set man, but was not robust, and he died at the age of fifty-five. In politics he was a Democrat, and he was a devout member of the Lutheran Church,
