John Hubrecht Hamaker and Adam Hamaker, two brothers, came to America in 1740, sailing from Rotterdam, Holland, on the ship Elizabeth. They settled in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, and their descendants became widely scattered over eastern and central Pennsylvania and the western states. Nearly all of these descendants spelled the name Hammaker.
