General Notes: Husband - John William Taylor


He was educated in the public schools and came to Greenville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, in 1862, when seven years of age, with his parents. He learned the undertaker's business of his father. At the age of twenty-seven years he embarked in the undertaking business on his own account. He built up a first class trade and had the support and respect of the best families within his trade circle. He was a member of the following societies: Eureka Lodge No. 290, F. & A. M.; Mound Chapter No. 212, Royal Arch Masons; Mt. Calvary Commandery No. 120, Knights Templar; Zem Zem Temple of Shriners, located at Erie, Pennsylvania. He also held membership with Custer Lodge No. 469, Knights of Pythias; the Home Circle and Bessemer Club. In his church connections, Mr. Taylor belonged to the Methodist Episcopal denomination. Politically he was a supporter of Republican party platform principles.
