He graduated from Monmouth College, Monmouth, Illinois, and, upon returning to Pittsburgh, entered the office of M. E. Cozad and Company, abstractors of titles. In the year 1899 the firm joined with the Pennsylvania Title and Trust Company and formed the Guarantee Title and Trust Company, of which Mr. McKee was the first president. Later the company took over the Iron City National Bank, the Moreland Trust Company and the Standard Security Company. Mr. McKee resigned the presidency of the Guarantee Title and Trust Company and in 1914 organized The Title Guaranty Company of which he became the president.
