He was born in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, and accompanied his parents on their removal to Brady township, Clearfield County, where he grew to manhood. After his marriage he located on the old homestead, where he continued to live until 1895, when he removed to Du Bois. There he purchased property and engaged in the grocery business.
