General Notes: Husband - H. A. Broadbent


He was educated in the common schools of Oneida County, NY, and at Utica, NY. He was engaged with his father in a woolen factory in Jefferson Township, Mercer County, PA, when he was elected county treasurer, in 1887. The family came to Mercer County in 1857. He enlisted in Company B, Fifty-fifth Pennsylvania Volunteer Militia, re-enlisted in the Two Hundred and Fourth Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served with the Fifth Heavy Artillery. He served as justice of the peace and school director. He was a member of Mercer Post, G. A. R., and a stanch Republican. He and his wife were members of the Second United Presbyterian Church of Mercer.
