He was born uon the Harbison homestead in Middlesex township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, received a common school education, and followed farming as a vocation.
He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian church, in which body he filled the office of trustee. In politics, he was a Republican. He later resided at Haviland, Allegheny County.
