General Notes: Husband - William E. Newlin


As a boy, he attended the public schools of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, and the McKeesport academy. Later he attended the Indiana State normal school, and, in 1889, graduated from the law department of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with the degree of bachelor of laws. In September of the same year he was admitted to the bar of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and began his professional career. Besides his private practice and the business enterprises with which he was associated, he was the city solicitor for the city of McKeesport.
He was interested in various manufacturing and mercantile enterprises, being the president of the Heilman-James company, the secretary and treasurer of the Farmers' manufacturing company, and he organized the Pittsburg casket company, of which he was treasurer and one of the directors.
