General Notes: Husband - Benjamin Hartshorn

He was born in Cecil County, Maryland. He came to Clearfield County, with his family when all the section included in Pike township (then, Huntingdon County), was almost a wilderness. He was a squatter settler, laying claim to 500 acres of new land. He built his log cabin on what later became the McNaul farm, choosing his home near one of the finest springs in the county. He cleared up his land and put it under cultivation. He also started a tannery, the first one east of Bellefonte.
He died at the age of fifty-eight years.

He and his wife were natives of Maryland; they removed from that state to Centre County, Pennsylvania, and in 1806 came to Clearfield County.

He and his wife were the parents of eight children. But different sources give different lists of names, so at least one of the names given here could be a duplicate.
