At 6:40 o'clock Friday evening death claimed one of Rocky Grove's most widely known citizens, Jacob H. Hawkins, of 5 GilfiIlan street. Mr. Hawkins had been ill since December but had been confined to his bed only for the past 10 days. In February Mr. Hawkins underwent an operation on his head to relieve a condition caused by an automobile accident 10 years previous.
Mr. Hawkins was 48 years of age, having been born in Franklin on June 10, 1878. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hawkins. His entire life was spent in Franklin and Rocky Grove. For 25 years he was employed at the Eclipse Works of the Atlantic Refining Co., being a foreman for many years. More recently he served as a foreman at the Venango Manufacturing Co.'s plant. Mr. Hawkins was a member of the Moose and Eagles clubs and of the Fraternal Home Insurance Lodge. He attended Grace Evangelical Church.
On June 18, 1896 he was married to Miss Dora Peterson, who survives together with two daughters and three sons\emdash Mrs. Herbert Walters, Mrs. Merle Firster and Foster Hawkins, of Rocky Grove; O. B., of Avalon, and Chester, of Franklin.
The funeral will be held from the Grace Evangelical church on Parker avenue at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon and will be in charge of Rev. E. L. Nicely.
