General Notes: Husband - William Hays

It is not clear what became of William. Most sources speak only of his two brothers migrating to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and then to Oakland Township, Venango County. However, HVC 1879, 607 lists William Hays as an early settler of Oakland Township as well. There is also a William Hays who was an early settler of Sugar Creek Township, Venango County, and the path that he followed to Venango County seems similar to the other members of this family; also, his dates do not seem incompatible.

William Hays emigrated from Ireland at the age of forty and came to Venango county in 1803, accompanied by John Hays, his brother. The former died at the residence of Grier Hays on the tract he first settled. [HVC 1890, 684]
