General Notes: Husband - David C. Andrews

He grew up at home, attending the common schools of his native place. Shortly after 1879 he bought a farm in Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley, where he lived for eighteen months, then sold the property and returned to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He rented the farm of Samuel Warden, near Mount Pleasant, and farmed there for nine years, then removed to another farm, the old homestead of his maternal grandfather, John Carnahan, and the place of his mother's birth. He became widely known throughout Westmoreland and adjoining counties through breeding thoroughbred registered cattle and raising horses. He bred polled Durham cattle, and was the owner of the finest eighteen months calf ever shipped into the county, it having taken the first prize at the St. Louis World's Fair.
He was keenly interested in politics, his sympathies being Democratic, and he was a member of the school board. He was a member and an elder of the United Presbyterian church, and also served for several years as superintendent of the Sunday school. Of social brotherhoods he was a member of Royal Arcanum.
