General Notes: Husband - Samuel Warden

He lived the greater part of his life on the Andrews' homestead just north of Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and was extensively engaged in farming, and in later years in the production of coal and the manufacture of coke at the Warden works near the present town of Alverton, several miles west of Mount Pleasant.

He followed farming for a livelihood for a number of years, later was one of the pioneer coal operators at Irwin, Pennsylvania, and for a number of years was engaged in the coal business at Alberton. He was one of the organizers of the First National Bank of Irwin, and for years was a director in the First National Bank of Mount Pleasant. For one year, 1899-90, he served as chief burgess of Mount Pleasant, having been elected on the Democratic ticket. For about forty-five years he served as elder of the United Presbyterian church of Mount Pleasant, and for the long period of fifty-seven years never was absent from his place on Communion Sunday.
