General Notes: Husband - Samuel Kelly

He enlisted from Letterkenny township, Cumberland County (now Franklin County), June 1, 1776, as a private in James McConnell's company. They marched to Elizabethtown, New Jersey, where they were under the command of Colonel Thomas McKean for a few days, until placed in Colonel Frederick Watt's regiment of the Flying Camp, where he served until November 16, 1776, when he was taken prisoner, carried to New York city, and confined there in New Bridewell prison, with eight hundred other prisoners until March, 1777. He was then released on parole with three hundred others, five hundred having died in the prison. He re-enlisted in August, 1780, and served in Captain Johnson's company of light horse, and again in May or June, 1781, and served in a company commanded by James McCalmont. He was still a member of that company August 29, 1782, and was granted a pension on an application executed December 24, 1832, when he was a resident of Conemaugh township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.

At the close of the War of the Revolution he returned with his father to the lands on the Conemaugh river, and succeeded him in the ownership of the lands.
