General Notes: Husband - Harvey Henderson

He was educated at Allegheny College, graduating in 1857, A. B., Phi Betta Kappa, A. M., 1860. Was admitted to the bar and practiced law in Meadville for many years and during this time served a term as district attorney. In 1871, he gave up the legal profession and entered the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the Erie Conference. He was active ten years in the profession, serving churches in Ohio and Pennsylvania, holding pastorates in the latter state at Clarion and the First Church of New Castle.
In 1881, he resigned from the conference and resumed the practice of law at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he assumed first rank as a lawyer for his wise council, his honesty and his knowledge of law.
He was a member of the North Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church of Pittsburgh, and was active in all lines of church work. At the time of his death, in a tribute paid him by his law partner, E. L. Kidney, who saw him almost daily for twenty-eight years, said, "He was the best man I ever knew. In all of our associations, I never knew Harvey Henderson to do a mean thing or close his eyes to what was wrong for the sake of business. In the twenty-eight years, I never knew him to lose his temper nor say an unkind word to or about anyone."
His Alma Mater, Allegheny College, conferred on him the honor-ary degree, LL.D., in 1914. From 1868 to 1921 he served as a trustee of the College.
He made a trip to Ireland, England and Scotland sometime about 1890 but could find no trace of Robert Henderson's relatives. He spoke at the Henderson Centennial Reunion in 1895 and gave a history of the family.

General Notes: Wife - Harriett Jennie Hogeboom

from Rochester, NY

She descended from one of the families who emigrated from Holland and settled in Columbia County, New York, soon after the discovery of the Hudson river. This family produced a number of men of note in the history of the State of New York. Jeremiah Hogeboom was colonel of the first regiment raised in Columbia County for service in the Revolution, John T. was a judge in the county just named, and Henry served with distinction on the bench of the court of appeals of his State.
