General Notes: Husband - William Gates Henderson

---

His mother prepared him for college, and at the age of seventeen he entered Jefferson Medical College at Philadelphia, PA, from which he graduated in 1842. While in college he kept elaborate notes of the lectures. In the back of the book, he kept a cash account of the first few years of practice in West Middlesex, PA. This book, after 100 years in the possession of his family, was deposited by his granddaughter, Helen Keep, of Detroit, MI, in the Library of Jeffer­son Medical College. He made his own medicines as was the practice in his day. He had a large practice, but the exposure to inclement weather broke his health and at the early age of 31 years.

After the death of her husband, Hannah moved to Oberlin, OH, to educate her children. After they graduated from Oberlin College she removed to Sharon, PA, where she resided until her death.
