General Notes: Husband - Matthew Dean

Canoe Valley, Huntingdon Co, PA

He was of Scotch-Irish extraction, and settled in Canoe valley, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, prior to the revolutionary war.
His wife and three of their children were killed in Canoe valley, in 1780, by a Delaware war party. He and five of their children escaped the tomahawk by being at some distance from the house.
