General Notes: Husband - Elmer Elsworth Henry

He attended first the district schools of Piney township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, then going to one at West Freedom and still later to another at Scotch Hill. He was a boy of ambition and energy, and he was only twelve years old when he went to work for himself in the employ of a farmer of the neighborhood. His tireless industry reaped its reward and he became the prosperous and respected owner of two well cultivated farms in Porter township each of them comprising ninety acres. He made his home on one of these and lived on it for over twenty-four years. A Democrat in his party affiliations, he was an independent in local matters, giving his vote for the man who in his opinion was best fitted for the office. He served as a school director for several years, and was the township auditor for fifteen years. He and his wife were both members of the Evangelical Lutheran church. He served the church as trustee and was a deacon for many years.
