General Notes: Husband - Reuben R. Hickox

He left Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, and went to Indian Territory [now Oklahoma] in 1885 as agent for the Cheyenne and Arapahoe Indians. He and his family were in the "Run" with the "boomers" April 22, 1889, and were successful in landing a claim on which part of the city of El Reno later stood. They erected a canvas "tepee," or tent, among a wild waste of prairie grass, where later stood the red brick schoolhouse on Rock Island avenue, Hickox Addition. Mr. and Mrs. Hickox later lived at Binger, Oklahoma, "Elm Dale Ranch," he being farmer for the Caddo and Comanche tribes.

He was general agent for the Household Sewing Machine Company.
