General Notes: Husband - John Hess

---

He removed to Clarion County, Pennsylvania, in 1832 and settled at New Maysville, where he became a miller, buying the mill of Daniel Giest which was later destroyed by a flood, and then rebuilding the mill which was again de­stroyed, May 30, 1860, by a cyclone, and then in 1863 building a mill which was standing in New Maysville for many years, and which he conducted until his death. He was a Whig and later a Democrat in politics, and was a member of the German Reformed church.
