General Notes: Husband - Robert Miller Anthony

He was born on Anthony's run, near Shelocta, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He and his wife began their domestic life on the east branch of the Mahoning, where his father had purchased land some years previous. He and his brother Jacob erected a sawmill there and continued the manufacture of lumber for about three years, when he sold his interest to his brother, and purchased 220 acres of timber land on Little Anderson creek, three miles east of Luthersburg, in Clearfield County, on which was a sawmill. He moved to Clearfield County July 27, 1852, there manufactured lumber for two years, marketing his products in Curwensville, when he sold out to Arnold & Hartshorn. He then purchased a farm near Putneyville, Armstrong County, to which he moved his family in 1854, making it his home for eleven years, during which time he built a large bank barn, erected a brick residence and making many other improvements. He sold that property in 1865, and then bought a farm of Robert Bell, at Frostburg, Jefferson County, where he resided for more than forty-five years. He erected a fine residence and good barns, and added to the place all the improvements and accessories of a modern farm of the 19th century, so that he had one of the finest country homes in Jefferson County. He sold the Frostburg farm to Aaron Depp in 1894, reserving four acres by the watering trough and building a house in which he lived until his death.
He was a Whig in early life; he was later a stanch Republican. He served as supervisor and assessor for one term each, and for eight years was school director. He and his family were members of the Pres-byterian Church.
