General Notes: Husband - Edward Riggs


He settled on the Riggs farm [in Washington County, Pennsylvania?] Dec. 25, 1801.

A native of New Jersey, of German and Welsh descent, he was a pioneer of Snowden township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he cleared and improved a farm, on which he lived and died. [HAC 1889 ii, 344]

He was born near Hightstown, New Jersey, and when twenty years old moved west and located on the waters of Short creek, near Wheeling, West Virginia, and the following year went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There he was married and in 1786 located on a 400-acre tract some ten miles southwest of Pittsburgh, on Peters creek, where he spent the rest of his days as a farmer. He was in religious belief a Baptist, and when he died, he was buried in the Peters creek burying ground of the Baptist church. [MAC 1904 ii, 18]

When her parents moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania, she remained in New Jersey at her grandfather's. She married and moved to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, near Library.
