General Notes: Husband - Samuel G. Meals

When about two years old, he came to Mechanicsburg, Worth Township, Butler County, PA, with his parents. Here the family resided until about 1817, when they removed to Concord Township, where they remained until their removal to Washington Township. His father was a blacksmith, and Samuel worked in his shop when a boy. He learned the trade of a stonemason, and worked at it for about sixteen years, in Butler and adjoining counties, getting his start in life in this way. Before he married, he improved the land that later became the Shira farm. [HBC 1883, 445]
