General Notes: Husband - Edward C. Hillis

In 1886 he came into possession of a farm of sixty-nine acres, one of several properties owned by his father. There he lived thereafter, although he somewhat diminished his acreage by selling a tract of land to the agricultural society of Westmoreland County, which then became the County Fair Grounds, and also several tracts to the Pennsylvania Railroad which were needed by that corporation for yardage. He retained twenty-seven acres, however, of very productive and fertile lands and there he erected a good set of farm buildings and an attractive house.
He was reared a Baptist and attended the old Sewickley Church of that denomination where for some years he served as deacon.
