General Notes: Husband - John P. Hough

He grew up a farmer, but in 1850 emigrated to California, where he established a general hauling and teaming business, freighting goods over the mountains. When the railroad came and destroyed his business he purchased a horse ranch in Nevada, on which he lived until late in life, then moved to the town of Elko, in the same state, where he and wife both died.
