General Notes: Husband - William W. Orr

Until he was sixteen years of age, he gave the chief portion of his time to the acquirement of an education. For four years thereafter he was employed in farming pursuits, and during the succeeding three years on various public works throughout the county. An experience of a year in the sawmill industry at Sharon was followed by a year’s work as a carpenter, when he returned to the home farm in Perry Township and remained there for four years. He was next identified with the Sharon furnaces two years, and in 1898 settled on his own farm and homestead. In 1908 he purchased an adjoining tract of thirty-eight acres, and, in connection with his general agricultural operations, he engaged in the saw-mill business with his brother from 1900 to 1903, as well as conducted a threshing enterprise for some seven years. He was also active in the politics and official business of the township, having served his Republican associates as a judge of election and the people at large as a member of the school board.
