Samuel C. Say.
Samuel C. Say, of Sugarcreek, son of E. F. Say, formerly of Six Points, died at his home Sunday morning at 12:45 o'clock, after a two weeks' illness. Mr. Say's condition did not become alarming until at 8 p. m. Saturday.
Mr. Say was approaching his 44th birthday anniversary, having been born on Jan. 28, 1885, near Six Points Butler county. He attended the Six Points school, the Eau Claire Academy and Butler Business College.
On May 12, 1915, he was married to Miss Mary D. Hoffman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Hoffman, of Rocky Grove. Surviving him are his wife and three children, Wayne, Beryl and Evelyn, also his father at Sugarcreek, and the following brothers: Roy Say, of Butler; Rev. Lester Say, of East McKeesport, and John R. Say, of Freedom. Mr. Say was one of a family of five sons. His other brother, Bruce Say, was killed at the battle of Fismes, France, in the course of the World War.
Mr. Say for some years conducted a grocery store in Rocky Grove being a member of the firm of Say and Patterson and later was employed as a bookkeeper by the Squier Oil Co., of Reno. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Sugarcreek. He was active in church and Sunday school work both locally and in the district and for several years was a member of the executive committee of the District 3 Sunday school organisation, which comprises Sugarcreek township. His death, so sudden and unexpected, comes as a great shock to many, many friends.
The funeral is to take place at the family residence on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. with Rev. Paul K. Scott, pastor of the Sugarcreek Methodist Episcopal church, in charge and interment following in the Franklin cemetery.
