General Notes: Husband - Alexander Holeman

He was his father's companion in his pioneering experiences in Venango, later Forest, County, Pennsylvania, and spent his life under similar conditions, farming, lumbering, and operating the ferry.

He was a prominent citizen in his day; held the office of associate judge of Venango County; was a member of the assembly one term; was county commissioner, and also filled other minor offices.

His parents went to Venango County, Pennsylvania, when he was eight years old. At that time the county was a vast wilderness, and there were no white inhabitants within five miles of Mr. Holeman's house. The only playmates he had were the Indians. It is said that his father was once captured by the Indians and forced to "run the gauntlet." Mr. Holeman followed farming, and very successfully, too-being one of the leading citizens of his section of the country. In 1844 he was elected to the legislature and served two terms; he also served as county judge several years.
He was a farmer, and also worked as a pilot on the river during his younger days.

General Notes: Wife - Clarissa Sexton

She was of English descent, and her people removed to Pennsylvania from the state of Connecticut.
